Even If

Have you guys heard the new MercyMe song..Even If? It’s one of those songs that pulls at my heart every single time I hear it. I’ll share the link to the YouTube video as well as some of the lyrics.

Today is my 45th birthday. On March 24th, 1972 at 2:55 am…I came into this world. Life’s been good in so many ways…but life’s also been a bit rough at times. Can you relate?

My spiritual journey began almost four years ago in Japan. I updated the cover picture on my website recently…it is a photo I took in August 2013 while I was riding a bicycle through a canopy of Fuguki trees in Okinawa. If you look at the photo you can see the silhouette of my friend at the end of the tunnel near the light riding her bike as well. I was so overwhelmed with the spirit of God the moment right before I took that picture that tears were running down my face and I was laughing and smiling for the first time in weeks. My marriage had ended and I was so overcome with grief that I was barely functioning until that moment.

That photo is a snapshot of a miracle moment in my life. It is one of the most precious photos I have because I can look at it and remember the feeling I had when God scooped me up out of the darkness and back into the light. It was a REBIRTH!

I am still riding towards the light in that tunnel. And as more time passes, I realize I will probably always be on this journey of being a light and truth seeker. As a born again Christian though, I am okay no matter what happens, unlike before. My husband ended our marriage and I was devastated. Today I realize that was all part of God’s plan. He gives me hope.

The lyrics to the song say:

“I know You’re able and I know You can

save through the fire with Your might hand

But even if You don’t

My hope is You alone…”

I am no longer seeking happiness from a man. I know now that happiness comes from within and is rooted in my relationship with God. Stuff happens and I get distracted, but I always get back on my bike and continue riding. Sometimes when I don’t feel like pedaling, He just pushes me along. It’s pretty amazing. I am so blessed.

Blessings to you,
