Summer travel is upon us and if you’re like me, you’re ready to get out of the house and hit the open road. Now is the time to prepare and make sure you have all of the essentials you need to make your trip as comfortable as possible. Whether you’re driving or flying or possibly even taking a train or bus, here are some of the items I won’t leave home without.
Over the past year, I’ve been dealing with some ongoing health issues that have made travel a little more challenging than it used to be. Sitting for long periods, long drives, and even just being out of my normal routine can take a toll if I’m not prepared.
But I’ve realized that not feeling 100% doesn’t mean I have to stop doing the things I love. It just means I need to be a little more intentional about comfort and take better care of myself along the way. These are a few simple things that have helped me feel more at ease while traveling — and made it easier to still get out there and go.

Neck Travel Pillow

This neck travel pillow is a must for long car rides or flights, especially if you start to feel stiff or uncomfortable after sitting for a while. The memory foam gives solid support without feeling too firm, and it helps keep your neck in a more natural position. It’s also lightweight and easy to pack — and right now it’s about $16, which is a really good deal. You can check it out here.
Wedge Seat Cushion

If you deal with discomfort on long drives, this seat cushion can make a big difference. It adds a little extra height for better visibility and gives firm support that helps take pressure off your lower back and hips. It’s especially helpful for longer trips when sitting starts to wear on your body, and it’s currently around $24 on sale. You can check it out here.
Lumbar Support Cushion

For longer drives, I’ve found that having good lumbar support can make a huge difference in how my body feels afterward. This memory foam cushion helps support your lower back and reduce tension, and you can also use it in an office chair if you sit a lot during the day. It stays in place easily and is about $23 right now, which makes it a really practical option. You can check it out here.
Travel Blanket

This 4-in-1 travel blanket is one of those things you don’t realize you need until you have it. It can be used as a blanket, pillow, or even worn like a wrap, which makes it perfect for long flights or road trips when comfort really matters. It’s lightweight, easy to pack, and around $29.95, which is a solid value for how versatile it is. You can check it out here.
STANLEY Reusable Water Bottle

I love my 40 oz Stanley at home, but this one is actually more practical for travel. The straw snaps down so it doesn’t leak, which makes it a lot easier to throw in a bag or keep in the car without worrying about spills. It keeps drinks cold for hours and is around $35, which is worth it if you want something reliable on the go. You can check it out here.
YETI Insulated Coffee Tumbler

This is one of my favorite travel cups, especially if you’re a coffee person. It’s the perfect size for taking coffee on the road, and it actually keeps it warm long enough to enjoy it slowly instead of rushing through it. It fits easily in a cupholder and is about $32, which makes it a great everyday travel essential. Just note the lid isn’t fully leak-proof, so it’s best kept upright. You can check it out here.
Travel might look a little different for me right now, but finding small ways to stay comfortable has made a big difference. If you’re in a similar place, I hope a few of these items help you feel a little more at ease on your next trip.
Blessings, Stacey
