My adventure is quickly coming to an end. Today I drove from Newark, DE to Kane, PA to attend my nieces wedding tomorrow. (I forgot to snap a picture of my mileage…will try to do so in the morning). It was a gorgeous drive through quaint towns and beautiful mountains.
My dad is from PA originally. As I was driving today he was on my mind a lot. He spent the first 35 years or so of his life in this part of the country before moving to Kentucky. I imagined what his life was like as a child and as a young adult here. I know he would love to be here right now for his granddaughter’s wedding but unfortunately he isn’t healthy enough to travel. I’m here in his place and will take plenty of pictures for him!
Tonight I’m sleeping in a GORGEOUS room in the bed and breakfast where the wedding will be tomorrow. It seems to be a magical place and I’m more than blessed to be here. Attending a wedding makes me think about my past weddings. Maui and Las Vegas. No family attended either ceremony…just myself and my significant other each time. They were both special but neither marriage lasted.
I heard my niece say this evening that she wondered if they should have just eloped…the preparation and planning was stressful. I told her it would be worth it. Running off is easier (as I know) but making a lifelong commitment to your partner in front of God and all of your relatives and friends is priceless. My dad never got to see me get married and most likely never will. My mom either for that matter. She however is surrounded by an abundance of people who love her and support her that’s just so special. I pray they have a long, happy, beautiful life together.
I have so many thoughts and emotions swimming around in my head as my Summer trip is coming to a close. I’ve seen and done a lot since I started on 7/17 and I still have two full days before I return to Indiana. It’s definitely been a sweet ride. I can’t wait to recap the entire story.
God bless,
