2 Timothy 4:7 Paul says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”
I wrote a very lengthy entry and decided to chuck the entire message and instead keep this one LIGHT. The entire meaning of “fighting the good fight” is to remain in faith during our never-ending struggle against evil within us and within our world. I decided instead of sharing the details of my “crappy week”…I’d rise above and “deal with it” as a friend wrote to me in a message earlier in the week about his personal life struggles.
The key is remaining constant in Him and not losing sight of the bigger picture. I struggle with that on a daily basis. But my life is far, far, far from all bad. I had just as many positive moments last week as negative ones but the negative ones are the ones we tend to dwell on, aren’t they?
I saw this quote (and I apologize for not remembering who posted it) and it struck a nerve inside me.
“The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise man grows it under his feet” ~ James Oppenheim
Happiness is a state of mind that you can create at any given moment. Instead of dwelling on everything that is wrong, how about focusing on everything that is RIGHT!
The message at church today was about love:
Happiness is love, full stop.
Love is the gracious choice to give oneself for the highest good of another.
God’s love is deep and there’s a lot more going on there than you realize or see.
Those are all comforting words to me. Isn’t it GREAT to know that no matter what, God is taking care of things for you behind the scenes whether you can see it or not?
Keep the faith. Let your light shine. Do your best with what you have…that is your mission. And keep fighting the good fight…
Happy Mother’s Day today! Have a blessed week!
