Lent Day 38 ~ Holy Thursday

image

Holy Thursday Or Maundy Thursday

This is the day before Jesus was arrested. When I think about this day it is bittersweet. As much as I love Jesus and what He did for us, I didn’t WANT Him to die. But that was why He was here…to die for our sins so we could have eternal life.

As He and the disciples journeyed from Galilee towards Jerusalem…their journey became dark. I have to remember that light always overcomes darkness. This day before the crucifixion was an important day. It was the day of the last supper, the institution of the sacrament of Holy Communion, the washing of the disciples feet, the betrayal by Judas, and Jesus praying in Gethsemane while the disciples fell asleep. A LOT happened that day in preparation for what was soon to come.

I won’t be attending a communion service today. However the church I attend is holding an online service on Good Friday at 7pm Central time. I will add the link here if anyone is interested in participating along with me. I received a communion cup at church Sunday for this service tomorrow and if you do not have one I think it would be okay to participate with bread or a cracker and grape juice as a symbolism for the body and the blood of Christ. (You may certainly view the service without participating in communion if you choose not to). http://onelifechurch.org/

Today is my birthday. I am 44 years old today. I began this spiritual journey back to God (and me) when I was 41 (hence iamalive41) and I couldn’t be more thankful for where I am in my life right now. I really thought my life was over in the summer of 2013. Little did I know it was only just beginning. I have new life…I am saved. I am free. Thank You Jesus for giving your life for me so that I can experience an eternal one.

Blessings,

Stacey ~ iamalive
