Hearts On Fire!
I woke up this morning to the news of more terror attacks in our world. This time in Brussels, Belgium. It is disheartening, and what is worse, attacks like this take place all the time. Many of them we do not hear about because they are not “news worthy” to the people who pump out information to us. I believe that EVERY life matters though. I don’t even watch the news because it makes me negative and jaded. I know we need to pray for peace globally and that is my focus. When I was a child my mom always said, “We are in the last days.” I didn’t grasp that at all. Now I unfortunately do.
I posted the above heart picture on Twitter this morning along with a message to pray for Belgium. There were several responses but one person chose a negative outlook. He said, “I’ll bet the terrorists prayed before they blew themselves up. We need less prayers, less imaginary friends.” I didn’t bother to respond. And I don’t normally like to bring attention to these kinds of comments but today I am because to me, God is NOT imaginary. And He commanded us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER and we as human beings are failing at that.
I have Holy Spirit moments quite often. I don’t have to be on a vacation or in a magical place to feel God’s presence. It happens to me while sitting in a chair looking out the window of my little office in my apartment. It happens to me when I am driving down the highway listening to inspirational music. It happens during worship at church. It happens in silence. God is real and for those who don’t believe that prayer works, I will pray for them too.
I have been taking a friend of mine to church occasionally over the last few months. She is on the low end of the faith line but creeping up slowly. She had one of those Holy Spirit moments at church a couple of weeks ago and she told me that has only happened to her once ever before. That is the joy of the Lord moving on the inside and firing up her heart for the glory of His kingdom. It is our job to take that feeling into our every day lives and share that joy with others. WE are the light bearers in the darkness of the world and if we join together we CAN light this place up with LOVE. By living by the faith of Jesus we CAN create change.
Let’s light the world on FIRE for God.
Blessings,
