I just have a short entry tonight as it is getting late. Today I attended church, went to visit my dad at the nursing home, and began to prepare for my conference later this week. It was a good day!
The message at church this morning spoke to me. In my post yesterday I wrote a little bit about finding purpose in life. Our pastor said something along the lines of “people have a stronger sense of purpose after coming back to following Christ.” Amen! When I mentioned that it had taken me a while to find my purpose…it was in fact because I had drifted away from God. I was mad at Him. And I was lost for many years. It was not until I hit rock bottom until I came back. For many of us, that’s what it takes.
As a disciple now, I am living the life of the calling I have received since I “woke up.” That calling is my purpose. When you receive your calling it is your duty to become proactive, wear it as your identity, and share it with others. This entire blog website it based on my becoming ALIVE and being STRONG. And I’m being proactive by sharing my journey here. When you find your purpose…live it and share it. Share all of it…the good parts and the messy parts. By doing so, others will realize they are not alone. WE ARE ALL DEALING WITH SOMETHING! And nobody has a perfect life. Thankfully, God adores each and every one of us. Messy parts and all.
My dad and I blew bubbles again out in the courtyard this afternoon. He sat in his wheel chair and watched as I twirled around in the grass in my bare feet with the long green wand like I did when I was a kid. Bubbles were floating everywhere and it made me happy! He fell asleep watching me! Ha! But I had a blast. There is just something about the little things. They bring back sweet memories from childhood and they make you forget your worries for a while.
There is no need to worry though. You are strong. You are ALIVE. You have a purpose. Listen for it. He has a plan. Trust it. And again…don’t forget to have FUN! It is all about the journey. The journey IS life. It is happening right NOW!
Have a beautiful week!
