17 Days of Summer ~ Day 4

I had several things on my mind to write about today but I decided to focus on the topic of friendship.

Having connections with people you can relate to is so very important. Especially for women. I am blessed to have many strong women in my life. I see a couple of them at work everyday. I talk to one everyday multiple times per day usually by text but she is ALWAYS THERE. I have one who lives on the other side of the world and knows me better than I know myself in some ways. I have one who lives about an hour away and although I do not see her often, I consider her a sister.

Tonight I had a drink and some FUN conversation with a beautiful woman I have known for about ten years. Not only has she styled my hair off and on during this time, she has been my “therapist” and has become someone I consider a true friend. She is stronger than she realizes…much stronger than me and I wish she knew that. She is the type of person who gets along with everyone and makes each individual feel special. Time to let go of things holding her back. I know she will.

I also had a nice visit with my mini me! She has a lot more spunk than I ever had but I see so much of myself in her as far as being a free spirit. We connected about three years ago and I have a feeling she will always be part of my life. This young woman has so much drive and determination…I know she will accomplish anything she desires and sets her mind to do.

When you find good and TRUE friends, hang on to them. I have lost MANY friends through the years. Confiding and trusting in them only to be stabbed in the back. I believe those situations happen to make us learn who we can truly depend on. Some people are only close to us because they see us as competition and have the “keep your enemies near” mentality. REAL friends build each other up and support each other!

I plan to be including pictures of many of these women in a collage I will be sharing after the end of my “17 Days of Summer” journey because they are so very important to me.

God brings people into our lives for a reason. Sometimes as a blessing and sometimes as a lesson. Not just in relationships with the opposite sex but also with friendships. Take both as opportunities to learn and grow.

“A sweet friendship refreshes the soul” Proverbs 27:9

May you be blessed with much sweetness!
